Decorating for the 4th of July!
by Abigail Caplin
When I first started the Welcome Co., I simply wanted to add more options to the doormat market. I wanted to introduce styles to the space that made homeowners proud of their home (whether that be an apartment or first house) without breaking the bank. From my own experience I have found that decorating a home can seem overwhelming and expensive, however, porch decorating is anything but.
Decorating your front door space is manageable, affordable and an easy way to have some fun and express your creativity. Your front door is literally the only spot in your home where people are asked to stop and stare, so why not make it something fabulous to look at? Summer is heating up, so here are tips to make your porch one that will make visitors melt like a popsicle on the Fourth of July.
Sweep, spray, repeat
While a cute doormat or pretty wreath is a porch showstopper, the real MVPs of your porch is the sweep and spray power duo. By maintaining a clean porch, your summer decor will last longer and will look even fiercier. These are some tips to keep your porch and door sparkly clean.
Add flower power
One of my favorite things about summer is how everything is in full-bloom (see you never, endless Utah winter). Adding some fresh, bright flowers is an easy way to be festive for holidays such as the Fourth of July. These flower pots are a current fave of mine -- perfectly festive, yet timeless and eclectic.
Lighten up
There is something about a touch of light on a porch that gives it that southern charm. Clearly, picking something low-maintenance and kid-friendly is key, that’s why I love these lanterns with flameless candles. These lanterns add height and dimension to the space, while the flameless candles are simple touch to make your porch warm and bright.
Dress up your wreath
I’m all for a clean, fresh look (this cotton wreath is a real knock-out), however, I’m a sucker for these fun and unique Knot + Spool wreaths. Have a wreath already? Adding a touch of ribbon is a fun, cost-effective way to give a wreath a whole new look.
A mat(te) finish
Surprise surprise, I love me a good doormat. My recent collection has a little sumpthin’ sumpthin’ for everyone*, but this one is my personal fave and has quickly become one of our top sellers -- simple, fun and pairs wonderfully with any summer decor. Plus with the release of our new Navy and white Buffalo check mat, your porch will be looking festive all month long!
*We all have different tastes, but I think it’s safe to say we are all in favor of saving some cash money, amiright? Head on over to our website to receive 10 percent off your first order upon signing up with your email (wink, wink).
While decorating a home can be overwhelming, anyone can pull-off a beautiful summer porch. Have fun, add some flare and make it yours! Nobody’s home is perfect, but it’s the little details -- a spunky doormat, a pretty lantern or a fresh plant -- that can make your home welcoming and inviting. And that’s what we are all about here at the Welcome Co.
